I completed a six-month student placement with Vision Contracting as part of my degree in Sustainable Energy Engineering at Munster Technological University in Cork. During my placement, I worked as a as a Student Building Services Engineer, overseeing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing aspects across a variety of projects in Cork, Dublin, and Kildare.

What I particularly loved about this role was the ideal balance it offered between office-based and site-based work. The opportunity to travel to different sites and work together with a diverse range of team members from various disciplines all with a common goal was extremely rewarding.

The experience at Vision Contracting provided me with a broad and varied skill set. I was involved in problem-solving during the post-construction phase, finding solutions to real time problems on site as well as reviewing proposed design drawings to identify potential issues before they arose and everything else in between. Working closely with teams ranging from Civil Engineers to Project Managers really enhanced my understanding of the unique roles and responsibilities that each team member holds within the larger project framework. Overall, I found Vision Contracting to be an extremely supportive and accommodating company, which contributed significantly to the positive work environment within the company.
