Vision Contracting delivers Coleman Court Student Accommodation in Cork

Vision Contracting recently delivered our Coleman Court Student Accommodation project on North Main Street, Cork, in time for the beginning of the 2023 academic year.

Vision Contracting Ltd was appointed main contractor and PSCS under a Design & Build Contract by Hanmer Ltd for the construction of Coleman Court, a new A2-rated mixed-use student accommodation and retail development at 92-96 North Main Street, Cork, with heating, cooling and electricity from renewable sources.

The works comprised the turnkey construction and fit-out of a six-storey building with 279-student bedroom accommodation, five landscaped roof terraces, a gym, bike storage, a cinema, library, study rooms, laundry and reception. Back-of-house facilities comprise an office, post room and store rooms. The works also included the grey shell completion of two retail units.

Archaeologists Lane Purcell Archaeology conducted a comprehensive site investigation of the various soil layers built up over the centuries. Many interesting historical structures and finds, some dating back to the 12th century, were uncovered.

A total of 62 roof-installed PV modules have an annual energy production of 21.48MWh. This will result in a reduction of 10t in CO2 emissions. A high-efficiency VRV air conditioning system provides heating and cooling. Two hot water calorifiers, fed from an air-source heat pump, supply hot water.

The building is certified with an A2 BER (Building Energy Rating).
